UI/UX Designer

Design and user experience is at the forefront of every solution we deliver and we’re raising the bar even higher in our next-generation of offerings. This role involves wearing many hats; one day you may be designing new features on a web app and polishing interactive dashboards, while the next day may see you running a design workshop on client site or developing a new UX offering.  You will rarely be given a step-by-step guide to accomplishing your task. Instead, you will be help us figure out the best methods and, through that process, have an outsized impact on a growing design team. Most importantly, we’re looking for an natural problem-solvers who will be willing to rethink the norm and challenge us.  Be original and bring your best ideas, we’re eager for them!

To succeed in an exciting role like this, you’ll need more than great visual taste and design sensibilities. You’ll also need a deep understanding of digital design on the web. Paired with your ability to quickly learn new subjects, you’re bound to be successful in bringing data visualization and data science to life in your designs.  We’re not looking for someone who’s already an expert in everything, but someone who has the drive and confidence to continually improve and to take on new challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating wireframes, storyboards, sitemaps and screen flows
  • Plan and lead design sprints, walking clients from ideation to prototype.
  • Advocate for the customer as other teams execute on the design
  • Provide timely, useful feedback on designs of coworkers
  • Conduct user research, both in person and remote
  • Consult clients on current UX/XD methodologies

Required: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluent in web and mobile UX methodologies
  • Adept with design tools such InVision, Sketch, and/or the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to envision, design, and build new digital experiences.
  • Passion for interacting with people and ability to collaborate across teams (e.g. Strategy, Visual Analytics, Data Science, Portals, etc) as well as demanding clients
  • Easily adaptable and flexible to changing situations and project requirements
  • Comfortable with travel
  • Visual design fundamentals including color theory, typography, composition, iconography, photography, and information hierarchy.
  • Consistent attention to detail in your deliverables, and confidence in your ability to present them to clients and clearly articulate your design decisions.

Highly Desired:

  • 2+ years of UI/UX development experience
  • Consulting or Design Studio experience
  • Experienced with HTML5, CSS, Javascript, etc.
  • Strong understanding of data visualization best practices
  • Experience leading design workshops or sprints
  • Ability to analyze user feedback and activity, iterating to enhance the user experience
